Vedantam Radheshyam

Hailing from a traditional Kuchipudi family Sri Vedantam Radheshyam was born to Vedantam Suryanarayana in Kuchipudi. Maintaining the family tradition he took to dace under a very young age and the list of Gurus under whom he mastered Kuchipudi is a very long one. He has learnt dance and music from Vedantam Parvateesam, Vedantam Seetha Rama Sastry, Vempati Pedda Satyam, Vempati Chinna Satyam, P V G Krishna Sarma, Y Seetha Ramanjaneyulu, Satyasundararamaiah, Bokka Kumaraswami and Vedantam Satyanarayana Sarma.

Sri Vedantam Radheshyam has done Diploma (Honours) in Kuchipudi Dance and has been performing and teaching dance for more than three decades. He is currently with Sri Siddhendra Kalakshetra Pranganam, Telugu University as Incharge Prinicipal.

He has travelled exhaustively both in India and abroad and performed in over 2000 dance programs. His forte is simplicity and effortless in his approach with a natural flair for singing, dancing and nattuvangam.

  • Somayaji – Sutradhari in Sri Krishnavijayam
  • Parvathi, Sutradhari in Parvathi Kalyanam
  • Boudha Bikshuvu in Chandalika
  • Apasara & Sukracharya Pramadhudu in Ksheerasagaramadhanam
  • Narada in Sri Krishna Parijatam
  • Agniyothanudu & Archkaswamy in Rukmini Kalyanam
  • Rishi, Sukha, Brahma Maharishi and Gollavadu in Srinivasakalyanam

He has quite a few awards to his credit. In 1995, he was awarded as “KalaNeerajana” by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and in 2008 as “Vishesha Puraskar” from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. He has imparted training to scores of students and many of them are illustrious artistes are Sangeetha Natak Academy awardee and Ustad Bismillah Khan awardees.

He has directed a few television programs apart from being part of a couple of feature films. He is most sought after for donning the role of a judge for various Government organizations, prestigious cultural bodies and television channels.
